Have you ever wondered what unconditional love looks like? Everyone wants to believe that they are able to love unconditionally, but it's rarely something we can do. It's hard not to have expectations, even if it's nothing more than just plain basic honesty from the one you love.
I have had a chance to see unconditional love and I thought I'd share it, though it's a bit hard for me to tell about. I once allowed something in my life that eventually was exposed and it hurt TJ deeply. After one day of unbelief, tears and talking this is how I was treated.
The next day I came to my office to a beautiful boquet of flowers waiting on me. Of course everyone at the office wondered what "he" had done to have to bring me flowers for no reason. With tears in my eyes, I would choke up as I said, "he" didn't do anything wrong... *I* did. I couldn't explain, they didn't understand, but they had never seen unconditional love either I imagine.
I sat at my computer and pulled up my email. There was an email from TJ. I wondered what it would say and if he would rehash the episode that had caused us heartache less than 24 hours earlier. Instead I found this poem...
Likes vs. Loves

I like the way the morning sun looks as it starts to rise. I feel the warmth start to hit my face and I just bask in it's glow.
I love to see your face in the mornings, to feel the warmth of your smile and bask in the glow of love in your eyes.
I like the new fallen snow and marvel at how soft and delicate it is.
I love to touch your skin for it is always so soft and delicate.
I like to hear crowds burst out in uproarious laughter.
I love to hear you giggle.
I like a great number of people.
I LOVE YOU JELLIE.
And later I got a voice mail telling me he had seen me walking across the parking lot and his heart still skips a beat whenever he sees my beautiful face. And that night, he held me, and whispered in my ear his words of love. But in my heart I knew that words often come easy, the evidence to back up those words is harder... and I had seen and heard both. And I not only saw the human version of unconditional love expressed so greatly, but in his eyes, I believe I almost saw the face of God and how He loves me too.
And I know that I am loved, with a love that cannot be penetrated by anything or anyone and I am grateful to be secure in that love.
